The BIG Ticket: The Halliwell Jones Stadium is Out! The Luke Littler Stadium is In.
Friday, Febuary 7th, 2025
Hi!
A quick update:
Let’s keep this going.
The open rate has been strong at about 45%.
The growth rate of the newsletter is around 1% a week.
You seem to enjoy it.
Tell me what you want more of with today’s poll:
BTW, I’m going to try and come back over the weekend with a rundown on Super Bowl ticket prices.
Do me a favor and share this in your groups, social media, or with colleagues. Let’s keep the growth going.
To the Tickets!
Have you ever watched a rugby match before?
I had a chance to go to Philomena’s in London to watch the Six Nations: Ireland v. England after the TPC one year.
Great environment.
Vinny from Stimare took me.
After that, I fell in love with the sport and the culture.
During COVID, I became a go-to person for Rugby and had some fun projects I’ve worked on.
So, when Karl Fitzpatrick, CEO of the Warrington Wolves, sent me their latest activation: renaming their stadium, The Halliwell Jones Stadium, the Luke Littler Stadium, I was into sharing this.
Plus, I’d already seen it because I’d seem Liam Brown’s post on LinkedIn.
The results are pretty great:
Halliwell Jones received 3 years of media exposure in one day.
The Warrington Wolves received global recognition for the campaign to honor Luke Littler. If you don’t follow the darts, Luke is the youngest winner of the World Darts Championship.
The Wolves open up an entire new way of thinking about honoring famous fans, achieving recognition, and being creative.
What do you need to know?
Creativity:
We live in a culture where more is better.
But as the Wolves and Halliwell Jones prove, less can be more.
3 years media exposure, improved name recognition, better brand recall, and more.
All by taking your name off the stadium for a day.
Amazing.
Influencers/Fans:
Liam mentioned no one would bat an eye if Luke was an Olympian.
True.
But that’s also limited.
Luke did something amazing and world class. He is a lifelong Wolves fan.
Why not honor him?
I’ll give you some examples that might rock with you:
Renaming Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the Adele Stadium for a day.
Adele has sold millions and millions of albums, tickets, and other things. She grew up as a Tottenham supporter, and this would help the brand reach an entirely new audience.
Her residency is Germany last summer set records of all kinds.
Come on You Spurs!
Make the Sydney Cricket Ground the Nicole Kidman Cricket Ground for a day.
Nicole Kidman is a fan of the Sydney Swans. She’s also one of the most celebrated actresses in history.
You could go even further and honor people that win Nobel Prizes, make significant discoveries, or achieve significant things.
Make it fun.
Don’t try and overuse it:
Something that is fun, engaging, and interesting once becomes tired very fast.
The danger I see is everyone jumping on this as a gimmick.
Don’t do that.
