The BIG Ticket: Rainy Night Reading. Arts in the UK. Strategy. MLS. Spurs!
Hi!
I’m sitting here, listening to the rain, watching the Met Gala, and reading.
So, I will share a few articles I have been digging into over the last couple of days.
Mark Dayvd has a piece out on the economics of supporting folks that are early in their arts careers.
I like this one because it is prescriptive.
Mark and his colleagues have put together a plan.
I put out a piece on strategy yesterday that received quite a few replies.
If I were rewriting it now, I’d highlight the value of intangibles.
I feel like I slipped a bit on that one.
I love this video of Ange Postecoglou talking about winning mentality versus a losing mentality.
I’ve dealt with this in many situations over the years.
Ange is absolutely right.
With a new season of MLS rolling on, I was thinking about how you don’t see any advertising for MLS anywhere but in the Apple TV app.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I’d have Messi everywhere…
I spent a good bit of time reading this piece on “scientific management” and management by algorithm.
You might wonder what this has to do with the world of sports and entertainment, but take a step back and think about the algorithms that help you sell and market your events.
Next, spend a moment or two thinking about all of the people selling you the next great AI tool.
Then, read the piece.
I’m working on the Sports Illustrated branding piece and the U of Michigan pricing pieces.
But share any articles or ideas with me.
See you later.
